Top Countries with the Best Escape Rooms July 2019
For June we posted the Top 25 Countries with the Best Escape Rooms where it was a bit surprising that the countries with the largest economies were not leading the pack. July being the first month where we can compare the ranking between June and July, we would not have expected much movement at the national level, but the results blew away those expectations where more than half changed from their previous position.
Given some of the movement we saw occur in the Top 100 World and Top 100 US July rankings, perhaps we should not have been surprised. In the Top 100 World ranking, we saw Eleventh Hour Enigma (Tulsa, OK) move up 36 positions, Escape Game Bielefeld: X-it-ADVENTURES (Beilefeld, DE) move up 28, and Escape Hunt Liverpool (Liverpool, GB) move up 52. In the Top 100 US ranking, we saw Eleventh Hour Enigma (Tulsa, OK) move up 11 positions, Mindquest Escape Games (Jupiter, FL) move up 16, and Mountain Time Escape Rooms (Breckenridge, CO) move up 12. Given this, it’s not really that surprising that the UK moved up to the #3 position and the US moved up to #8.
We continued to use a cutoff of 10 ranked businesses. In other words, a country with less than 10 ranked businesses was filtered from the results. The number of ranked business will be interesting numbers to watch month-to-month as an indication of industry growth.
Over time the number of ranked businesses for a country increases as businesses obtain more than 150 reviews, the threshold number required to be ranked. For example, for July the US has 1,019 ranked escape rooms whereas there were 993 ranked escape rooms in June. If this number decreases, that is an indication that more businesses closed as compared to the number that passed the threshold value.
A little more than 1/2 of the countries were above the overall average rating of 4.70. This month’s average is down slightly from last month’s average of 4.74. For the largest economy nations, the UK continues to have a comfortable lead over the US, France, Italy, Germany, and Canada though the majority of these countries moved up in the ranks.
