Top 100 Escape Rooms in the United States – December 2019

Provided in this article is our list of the Top 100 Escape Rooms in the United States for December using all individual review ratings from Google, Yelp, and TripAdvisor. As usual, several additional businesses became eligible for ranking as they now have greater than 150 reviews, however none appear in this month’s Top 100 list.

Several made significant jumps including Great Escape Game (Beavercreek, Ohio) up 19 to #80, Escapology (Cedar Falls, Iowa) up 21 to #88, Mission Escape Games (West Hartford, Connecticut) up 22 to #92, and Trapped Puzzle Rooms (Minneapolis, Minnesota) up 17 positions to #94.  Excellent!

One issue we had this month was with the TripAdvisor ratings.  They seem to have introduced a bug in the desktop browser page as it showed incorrect breakout values for many businesses.  For those businesses in the top 350 world positions where our software noted a discrepancy, we manually checked and updated the data from the mobile version which showed the correct breakout values.  This check ensured the Top 100 US business data was correct.

There were many other businesses showing discrepancies that we did not update, as the manual effort and time involved was not feasible and would further delay posting these lists.  Since these discrepancies affect the accuracy of the statistics, we are not listing them this month.

Please check your ratings in TripAdvisor and let them know if they are in error.  While we have communicated the error to them, the more that communicate their concern should resolve the issue in a timely manner. 

Note that a business dropping in the ranking is not an indication that they are performing worse.  You can compare to previous months lists to see if the average ranking has changed.  Movement downward is often due to new entrants that are increasing the competition.
